I was thrilled when he told me that average class sizes are in the 20s and that the curriculum emphasizes experiential learning.
I am looking for more than just academic excellence; extracurricular activities, including community service opportunities, are also very important to me. In researching schools that would provide students with the most well-rounded lifestyles, I was amazed to see the number of philanthropic events that the school hosts and supports. Philanthropy seems ingrained in the school’s culture . I also saw hundreds of clubs that can cater to everyone’s unique interests. Students are also welcome to start new clubs if no existing clubs can foster their interests.
The energy on campus is something that I noticed right away. Both the students and staff show a lot of pride for Hofstra, and it’s truly memorable how enthusiastic the school spirit is among students. Leaving home to attend college is a big change for everyone, and I think school pride and a strong sense of community will help me make a smooth transition. I was very happy to hear that students get two tickets to events on campus. This is especially great because I am a sports fan and would love to experience the electric game day atmosphere of a division one basketball game and cheer on the Lions!
Hofstra’s location is also ideal because it has the advantages of being in a smaller town but also being very close to New York City. I do not want to attend college in a big city, but the fact that New York city is so close opens up a lot of opportunities. First off, there are numerous internships at top companies in the city. In addition, it would be great to visit the city from time to time and see a show or sports game. Being able to do that with friends would give me great experiences and memories.
Hofstra is my top choice because it fulfills my most important criteria: esteemed faculty members, a strong computer science program, a strong sense of belonging, amazing internship and community service opportunities, and a diverse campus. I cannot wait to be a Hofstra Lion!

외국회사에 지원할 때 이력서와 함께 보내는 자기소개서 (Cover Letter) 양식과 작성 요령을 공유해 볼까 한다.
Cover Letter 라 하면 물건을 팔거나 어디로 보낼 때 ‘내용물이 뭐고, 어떻게 다뤄야 하고’ 하는 것들을 적은 설명서이다. 채용담당자에게 내 이력서를 보내면서 ‘내가 간단히 말하면 어떤 사람이고, 왜 여기에 지원했으며 왜 너네가 나를 필요로 할 지’ 에 대해서 적어 보내는 자기소개서 역시 나를 판매하는 Cover Letter라 할 수 있다.
회사에서 요구하지 않거나 필수라고 하지 않으면 작성하지 않아도 되니까, 쓸 지 말 지는 자기 선택이다.

그런 다음 본론으로 들어가자.

세세한 경력은 이력서에 나오니, 지금 지원하는 포지션에 내가 가장 적합한 이유를 부연 설명하는 것이 가장 좋다.
대졸 이후 신입으로 지원하는 경우, 대학에서 전공 공부, 동아리, 봉사활동, 인턴, 아르바이트 등의 경험을 통해 얻은 것이 무엇인지, 그리고 그런 것을 바탕으로 했을 때 내가 얼마나 이 회사에 잘 어울리는 지를 적자.
경력사원의 경우, 이전 직장을 거치며 갖게 된 커리어 중 강조하고 싶은 내용이나 지원하는 회사에서 내 경력이 어떻게 쓰일 수 있을 지 적으면 되겠다.

쓸 만한 일이 없다고 생각된다면 생각을 고쳐먹자!
아무리 나에게 별일 아닌 것 같은 일도 다른 사람이 봤을 때는 별일이 될 수 있다.
별일이 아니어도 별일인 것처럼 포장해야 한다! (같은 물건이어도 완판되는 판매자의 제품설명을 보라…)
그 일을 통해 어떤 것을 얻었고, 내 삶에 어떤 영향을 미쳤는 지가 중요한 것이다.
내 경험의 가치는 나만 알고, 나만 부여 할 수 있다는 점 명심하자.
이력서에는 나오지 않는 내 성격도 어필하자.
“나는 어렸을 때부터 **한 환경에서 자라왔기 때문에 성격이 ***해” 라던가

진부하고 막연하게 자신을 치장하기 보다는 읽는 사람도 관심을 갖고, 짧게 훑어보는 시간에도 나에 대해서 파악할 수 있을 만한 이야기를 적는 것이 중요하다.
마지막으로 잘 부탁한다고 끝맺음을 하고 마무리한다.

Until the time I graduated from high school, I was just a hard – working student studying for the university

Although I received my B.S. in Engineering physics, I have a passion for literature. My present favorite author is James Joyce. My musical taste varies from Classical(Wagner is my favorite) to country(Collin Ray), and practically everything in between. I suppose I try to see the best in everything. My hobbies are rather few, but I tend to put a lot of effort into these. They are less so hobbies as they are avocations. I am a military aviation buff. So much so that at least one of my former girlfriends broke up with me because of it. She said:”You love your airplanes more than you love me!”. But what is love? I do believe she is mistaken . Life Goes on nonetheless, and I rarely look back upon my past with regret. I prefer to press on toward my goals without the hinderance of any regret. Especially since now my present girlfriend is a wonderful person, and just a great woman all around. (mostly because she indulges my little hobbies;) )
Another hobby of mine is cooking. I consider myself to be an above average chef, and have developed some of my own recipes. It’s fun to play around in the kitchen. It’s a good thing that I don’t have a family, because they will have to put up with my experiments. It usually turns out alright, but on occasions even I couldn’t stomach it.
