How do children heal from trauma? Play therapy and trauma expert, Paris Goodyear-Brown, takes us on a journey through the stories of children from hard places, the neuroscience of play, and the importance of each of us in bearing witness to the hurt. Graphic images may evoke strong emotions but will reveal the amazing ability of children to tell us what happened and play their way to healing. Paris Goodyear-Brown, LCSW, RPT-S, is a child trauma expert and a professional player with 23 years of experience in helping traumatized children and their families heal. She is the founder and Clinical Director of Nurture House, serves the Association for Play Therapy in several roles, is a sought-after international speaker and a prolific author. With specialties areas in sexual abuse, maltreatment, and attachment repair, her trauma model is best explained in her books \”Play Therapy with Traumatized Children: A Prescriptive Approach,\” \”Tackling Touchy Subjects,\” and her newest book \”Taming the Trauma with Children and Families\” (in press). Her hope for hurt children is best communicated in her children’s book A Safe Circle for Little U. Paris lives in Franklin, Tennessee with her husband and three children, and to balance the weight of holding the hard stories of those in her care she likes to drive her yellow jeep with the doors off whenever the weather allows. Paris Goodyear-Brown Paris Goodyear-Brown, LCSW, RPT-S, is Founder of the TraumaPlay Institute; Clinical Director of Nurture House, in Franklin, Tennessee; and Adjunct Instructor of Psychiatric Mental Health at Vanderbilt University. Ms. Goodyear-Brown is the creator of the TraumaPlay therapy model, which focuses on trauma recovery, attachment repair, and anxiety reduction. She is a recipient of the Public Education and Promotion Award from the Association for Play Therapy; has given a TEDx talk on trauma and play therapy; and is the author of multiple books, chapters, and articles related to child therapy. Her mission is to help parents and children delight in each other as they stick together through hard times, and to equip other clinicians to do the same.

Lisa Masri, LCSW
Lisa Masri is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). She earned her Master’s degree in Social Work from Indiana University and received her Bachelor of Science degree from Ball State University. Lisa’s professional experience includes working with children, adolescents and adults in the home-based and school-based therapeutic settings, outpatient setting at a community mental health center and in private practice. She considers it a privilege to journey with children, adolescents and families and help them grow through difficult times and develop deeper connections in their relationships. She believes that change is encouraged in a non-judgmental, relational and hopeful environment where everyone in the family is known, understood and loved.
Lisa has worked with children and their families addressing emotional distress, grief/loss, transitions and divorce, anxiety, depression, ADHD as well as other challenges. She is especially passionate about helping those that have been affected by a traumatic experience heal.
Lisa is trained in EMDR (Eye-Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), TBRI (Trust-based Relational Intervention), PCIT (Parent Child Interaction Therapy), (CBT)Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, (DBT) Dialectical Behavior Therapy and other trauma-focused treatment techniques and attachment-based interventions.
Lisa is a native Hoosier and has lived most of her life in Indiana until recently making her home in Nashville. She is married and has two children. She loves to be outdoors hiking, kayaking walking her Golden Retriever Drake, and spending time with her husband on little adventures.
